Engagement Session at Portland Head Light
Matt & Kira’s Love Story
Matt and Kira met online, as many do these days, through eharmony.com. Matt first messaged Kira and started the trend of asking questions about each other. They used the site email system to learn about the other’s passions and interests. Kira was immediately attracted to Matt and how handsome he was. Communication continued between them but after a few days, she didn’t hear from him anymore. Kira, understandably, was confused and upset that she had lost someone she felt a true connection with. Not knowing what happened, she moved on.
About a month or so later, on New Year’s Eve, Kira got another message from Matt. She was very curious about why he had decided to wait all this time to respond, though she didn’t ask him right away. She was headed to a friend’s house for a New Year’s Eve party and decided to give him her number so he could call or text. He jumped at the chance and they texted all night long. Turns out, his mysterious disappearing act was only that he wasn’t a paying member, as Kira was, and he was only able to communicate during the free communication weekends. So when the weekend ran out, he had to wait until there was another one. Hence, New Year’s Eve.
Matt and Kira called and texted back and forth for a couple of weeks, and then decided to meet for the first time. They lived about an hour apart from each other and decided to meet at a middle location: Starbucks in Saco.
“I was so nervous to meet him. I took particular care with my appearance wearing my best sweater, and making sure my hair looked good. When I got to Starbucks though, I realized one of us has possible misjudged attire. He was very casually dressed in jeans and t shirt with a flannel shirt. And he was on the phone!! Turns out, he had a minor fender bender on the way down and was sorting things out with the insurance company. We didn’t get to talk a whole lot before we both had to leave, but I was intrigued. Apparently, he was too, because when I got back to work, he called and asked if we could meet for lunch!”
January 14th, 2016 began their relationship. A few dates led to a kiss, a kiss led to exclusive dating, and dating led to an engagement. Their love for books, movies and music has bonded them. Their mutual appreciation for Star Wars is among the top qualities both enjoy about one another. They love trying new restaurants and just spending time with Matt’s family.
Matt and Kira have both been through some trying times. Both have been married before and felt their hearts shattered. Being together has allowed for two broken hearts to be mended and spirits renewed.
Matt and Kira will be married in the Spring of 2017.
