Zachary Clarke – A Birth Story
Zachary’s birth story is unique. Stephanie and Laura longed for a child of their own. Their love already great and brimming over for each other, caused a passion to share it with a child. They had some difficulties in the beginning and eventually chose to attempt IVF. The walk to parenthood for these lovely mothers has not been easy, but one they wouldn’t trade for the world. Taking a look at Zachary you can clearly see why.
I received the a text message from Stephanie on August 16, 2016 at 1:19am that read “Today is the day!! My water just broke!! No contractions yet.” Yes, Zachary was ready to join us… but on his own terms. Stephanie fell back asleep and went the majority of the day with no contractions. By 10:00 am Stephanie and Laura were at their doctor’s office being checked over, after which they were given the OK to head to the hospital of Mercy Fore River.
Labor was slow moving at first and all smiles from the excited couple. By 6:15 pm things started getting real. There were a few false alarms that Stephanie was ready to push. She tried, but Zachary wasn’t ready yet. Again, proving to be a man on his own schedule. Stephanie tried the tub, the ball, walking around, everything to ease the pain and help Zachary along.
After all day of laboring, Stephanie decided it was time for an epidural and was then able to relax and enjoy the last part of her pregnancy. Laying in bed, talking with family, and holding Laura’s hand gave her the strength she needed to push when the time came at 3:00 am on the 17th. Zachary Alexander was ready and decided to join us at 3:25 am on August 17, 2016 weighing in at 7lbs and 19.5 inches long, with a full head of hair. He was beautiful and full of joy from the moment he came into this world, just like his mothers.
We are so happy you are here Zachary. Everything about you is a miracle. I am honored to have been there and more so to watch you grow over the coming years.
